The Staple Street Skybridge is a blogger/instagrammer fav for a good reason. It’s situated in a throwback, cobblestoned alley of a street with a few doorways and an especially charming façade at 4 Staple Street. It is actually the only building in the Jay-Hudson stretch of the street to have a Staple Street address. I loved the wall sconce jutting out of its brick facade.
As for the bridge itself, it is made of cast iron with big picture windows. It was designed in 1907 by Robertson & Potter for the New York City Hospital House of Relief to connect the main building with its annexed expansion across the street. The two buildings were converted to residential and now the bridge connects a townhouse to a loft across the street and was/is on the market for a cool $35 million.
