#tbt to the summer of 2017, when we rented a tiny cabin by Getaway on State Island. It was part of a pop-up “Getaway at Gateway” program in partnership with the National Park Service at Gateway National Recreational Area on Staten Island. The cabin was really well-designed and had all the amenities you would need (toilet, shower, kitchenette, etc). I loved the all-wood interior and the large window from which we could see trees and glimpses of the ocean. There was a fire pit outside, but we only managed to get the fire started for like a couple minutes before it would die down again. City people struggles. All in all, it was a really relaxing weekend away from everything.
