Death & Co.
Death & Co. is a gem of a bar on East 6th Street. Started in 2007 by Ravi DeRossi and David Kaplan, Death & Co. was instrumental in reviving the craft cocktail and bringing creative new modern classics to the public. The space is speakeasy-esque, with dark, gothic accents and vest- and tie-wearing bartenders. It feels sophisticated and mysterious. I have never been able to hold my liquor, but even I can appreciate the effort, care, and creativity that are infused into the drinks here. I also love the façade of the place: windowless, of course, so a casual passerby couldn’t guess what’s inside, and an intricate door handle shaped like a snake with a pair of wings.
