If you live or have been to NYC, you’ve undoubtedly been on a crowded train. It is an involuntarily intimate experience. If you’re short like me, then you’ve probably smelled a fair share of the armpits of strangers or been hoisted up by the throngs of people that you don’t even need to hold on to anything.
I cracked a knowing smile when I passed by this new mural by SLIM on the Lower East Side/Chinatown. It just captures the claustrophobic closeness so well. I love the outstretched fingers trying desperately to hold on to any part of the train. No spray can was used in this piece; instead, it was all done via acrylic paint.
