Art is for Everybody

Art is for Everybody

The Welling Court Murals Project got its start when residents of Welling Court decided that they wanted an artistic makeover for their previously quiet and generic Queens neighborhood. In collaboration with Ad Hoc Art, the Welling Court Murals Project now features murals done by more than 100 artists from NYC and around the world.

I visited the murals during their annual block party where the neighborhood comes out to hang out and watch some incredible street artists do their thing. One of my favorite pieces from the weekend came from Joe Iurato. I love the homage to Keith Haring and, of course, the central message that art is for everybody.
